What are heating elements and what types are there?

As an important part of the electric furnace, the heating element plays an extremely important role in the whole heating process. What are the heating elements and what types are there? This article will give you the answer.

What are heating elements and what types are there?

1. Resistance wire

Iron-chromium aluminum electric heating alloy, wound into a spiral, through a special process fixed inside the refractory material, the use of oxidation atmosphere up to 1200 degrees, the surface of the formation of the dense oxide film. Main advantages: high-temperature resistance, long life, good oxidation resistance, low cost, suitable for a variety of experimental electric furnaces within 1200 degrees.

2. Heating tape

The performance is the same as heating wire, flat belt shape. After winding into a corrugated shape, it is fixed on the inner wall of the furnace by a ceramic pendant. Compared with the heating wire, the heating tape is easier to replace.

3. Silicon carbon rod (SiC heating elements)

They are available in straight, U, W, spiral, dumbbell, etc. They are used in oxidizing atmospheres at about 1200~1450 degrees. The use conditions and installation methods can be selected, with high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, fast temperature rise, long life, and other advantages. It can be used in electric furnaces up to 1450 degrees, and can also be applied to shuttle kilns and continuous kilns.

4. Silicon-molybdenum rods (MoSi2 heating elements)

The use temperature under oxidizing atmosphere is about 1400~1700 degrees; the maximum use temperature under an inert atmosphere is 1400 degrees. There are U type, L type, W type, etc. Under high temperatures, a bright oxide film is formed on the surface, which has unique oxidation resistance and is the most used heating element in high-temperature equipment at 1500-1700 degrees.

5. Molybdenum wire

The use temperature under reducing atmosphere is 1650 degrees, which can be used in the atmosphere sintering furnace of alumina ceramic tube and shell (HTCC).

6. Graphite

Graphite tube with a maximum temperature of 2200°C. Combined with a graphite furnace chamber, it is suitable for metal materials, and inorganic non-metallic materials in a vacuum or protective atmosphere for sintering, and can also be used for optical materials for roasting and purification.
